Gototherapy is a directory. We are not a crisis service, and nobody here monitors messages. If you need help now, these people can answer straight away.

Samaritans

Call 116 123. Free, any time of day or night, every day of the year. You do not have to be suicidal to call. Email jo@samaritans.org if you would rather write.

Shout

Text SHOUT to 85258. Free and confidential, 24 hours a day. A text conversation rather than a phone call, which some people find easier.

NHS 111

Call 111 and choose the mental health option. They can direct you to your local NHS crisis team.

In an emergency

Call 999, or go to your nearest A and E department, if you or someone else is in immediate danger.

If reaching out feels impossible

Making the first call is often the hardest part, and putting it off does not mean you have failed at anything. If you cannot speak, the Shout text line asks nothing of your voice. If you cannot do it today, the numbers above will still be there tomorrow.
