What it costs to be listed

Three tiers. One of them is free and stays free, and a free listing is a real listing rather than a stub designed to annoy you into upgrading.

Nobody pays anything until they have been checked and
accepted.
If we cannot verify you, there is nothing to cancel, because
nothing was ever set up.

On every tier

What the free one still gets you

A directory with holes in it is not worth paying to be in, so the parts that make a listing trustworthy are not sold separately.

  • The verified badgeNamed for what was actually checked, in the same words on every tier.
  • Search, town and issue pagesA free listing appears everywhere a paid one does.
  • Renewal remindersWe watch your expiry dates and write to you before they pass.
  • Enquiries straight to youNo commission, no cut, and we do not sit in the middle of the conversation.
The obvious question

You are new. Will anybody actually see my listing?

Right now, not many people. This directory is new, it is being built in public, and we are not going to put a made up number on this page to make it look otherwise.

What we can tell you is what we are doing about it. Every town and every area of support gets its own page, written properly rather than spun, because that is what brings people in from search. Those pages need therapists on them before they are worth indexing, which is why listing is free and will stay free.

So the honest version is this. If you are looking for enquiries this month, a new directory is not your answer, and we would rather you knew that before you paid us anything.

If you are willing to put a free listing up and let it build, that costs you twenty minutes and no money. Move up a tier when the statistics on your own profile tell you it is worth it, and not before.

Before any money changes hands

Checking comes first, and it is a person

The order matters. You are checked, then you are accepted, then you choose a tier. A directory that takes the payment first has sold you a listing rather than a place among people who were verified.

1

You send your documents

What we ask for depends on what you do. A counsellor or psychotherapist sends registration, insurance, proof of supervision and identity. A coach sends insurance and identity, because there is no register to check.

2

Somebody reads them

Your membership number is looked up on the professional body’s own public register. Your insurance certificate is read for the cover and the date. Your photograph is matched to your identity document.

3

Then you pick a tier

Your listing goes live with a badge naming what was checked. Only at this point does the question of paying come up at all, and Free is a complete answer to it.

We will not let your listing go stale without telling you

Insurance lapses. Registrations come up for renewal in the middle of a busy month and get forgotten. The software watches the dates on your documents and writes to you before they pass, not after, so the first you hear of it is not a client asking why your badge has gone.

  • 90 days
  • 60 days
  • 30 days
  • 7 days

One message per stage, never a repeat of one you have already had. Send the new certificate and the reminders stop.

The tier that needs explaining

What buying position does, and what it never does

Paid position on a health directory is worth being careful about, because a person looking for a therapist is not a shopper comparing hotels. So here is exactly what a Featured listing looks like to the person reading it.

Featured therapists pay for their position and are labelled. Everyone else is ordered by profile completeness.

Featured

Your name here

Counsellor, your town

Register, insurance and supervision checked

Both the sentence and the label are printed by the software. Neither can be removed while the position is bought.

A Featured listing is raised in results, and the page says so above the results. That is the whole of it. The things it does not do matter more:

  • It does not change a single thing about what was checked. The badge means what it says on every tier.
  • It never puts an unverified listing above a verified one, because there are no unverified listings.
  • It has no effect at all when somebody sorts by distance, which is how most people search.
  • It buys no editorial coverage. Nothing on this site can be paid for except position, and position is labelled.

If that arrangement is not for you, Professional gives you the same profile without it. How the checking works.

Before you decide

The questions people ask us

Can I cancel?

Yes, from your account, without writing to anybody or explaining yourself. Your listing drops to Free at the end of the period you have paid for. It is not deleted and you do not lose your badge.

Do I pay while you are checking me?

No. Nothing is taken until you have been accepted and you have chosen a tier. If we cannot verify you, no payment was ever set up.

What if you turn me down?

You are told which check did not pass and what would satisfy it. Most refusals are a document that has expired or a name that does not match, and both are fixable. You can send new documents and be looked at again.

What happens if my insurance expires?

You will have had four reminders before that date. If it passes, the badge comes off the listing until a new certificate is accepted. The listing itself stays up.

Do you take a cut of my fees?

No. There is no commission, no per enquiry charge and no booking fee. What a client pays you is between you and them, and we never see it.

Can I change tier later?

Up or down, whenever you like. Moving down keeps your profile; the parts the lower tier does not carry are hidden rather than deleted, and they come back if you move up again.

I am a supervisor and a therapist. Do I pay twice?

No. One membership covers every role you are verified for. Each role is checked separately and carries its own badge, but there is one profile and one payment.

What do you do with my documents?

They are stored privately, never appear on your public profile, and are not reachable by anyone browsing the site. They exist so a person here can check them and for no other reason.

Start on Free. Decide about the rest later.

The application asks for your documents and takes about twenty minutes. There is no card field in it, because there is nothing to pay until you have been checked.
