For professionals
Supervisors, coaches and trainers, with what was checked for each.
Everyone on this page has been checked by a person before listing and is rechecked every year. What can be checked depends on the role, so each one is listed below with its badge. Coaching and training providers have no register, and their profiles say so. Nothing is ranked and there are no reviews.

Plain answers
Questions people ask about supervisors, coaches and trainers
What does a clinical supervisor do?
A supervisor meets a therapist regularly to talk through their client work, keep it safe and ethical, and support the therapist's own development. Professional bodies expect practising counsellors and psychotherapists, and trainees on placement, to be in supervision, which is why Gototherapy UK checks every therapist's supervision arrangement with the supervisor directly.
Is coaching regulated in the UK?
No. There is no statutory register for coaching, and anybody may use the title. That is why every coaching profile says so in plain words, and why the coach badge lists only what could be checked: insurance and identity.
What is the difference between a coach and a therapist?
A therapist works with what is troubling you, is on a professional register that can strike them off, and is supervised. A coach works towards goals you set, and is not on a register. A profile explains which this person offers.
How is a trainer different from a training provider?
A trainer is a person on a professional register, checked for their register entry, insurance and identity. A training provider is an organisation that runs courses, checked for its course accreditation and insurance instead, and where an accreditation lapses the badge lapses with it.
How do I choose a course?
Ask which professional body accredits it, what registration it leads to, how placements and supervision are arranged, and what it costs in full. A provider's profile lists what was checked; the rest is a conversation with them.
